Yifon Skips for Nutritional Wellness @ South East 2013
SINGAPORE - About 100 kindergarten children from the Potong Pasir PAP Community Foundation (PCF) started their small giving to the community by skipping to raise food hampers for the needy families in the South East District on Wednesday.
The kindergarten children and their parents accumulated a total number of 5,000 skips and raised 50 food products for the needy families in the South East District.
This roadshow marked the end of the one and a half-month long campaign for Yifon Skips for Nutritional Wellness @ South East 2013 which hopes to engage 10,000 residents to skip and accumulate a total of three million skips in exchange for $60,000 worth of Yifon food hampers to benefit 3,000 needy residents in the South East district.
Their mini-skipping effort was the final roadshow for the 'Yifon Skips for Nutritional Wellness @ South East 2013' campaign initiated by the South East Community Development Council (CDC) and sponsored by Yit Hong Pte Ltd.
Mini-skipping is a simple activity which requires the children to skip side to side, to and fro the skipping rope laid on the floor. The objective of the activity was not only to raise food hampers but also to inculcate the value of giving in each child. Some parents were present to lend their encouragement and support to their young ones as well.
Mdm Sonia, 30, a parent who skipped alongside her kindergarten child, Anshika, said, "I'm glad that the school organised an activity as such as it's not only good exercise for the children but it also serves a greater cause which will benefit the community.
"It's a great platform for young children to learn to give, and an opportunity for character development." Ashika, 5, also shared, "I enjoyed myself skipping for people."
